Hike

Friday, May 27, 2022

11:00am-2:00pm

We'll get this party moving with a quick hike on Friday morning before the weekend. Bring some water, a lunch, a jacket, and $10 per car for parking (Discover Pass required).

We'll be hiking the Rattlesnake Ledge trail. There will be no snakes, but we can promise some incredible views. The drive is about 35min from Seattle, just put "Rattlesnake Ledge Trailhead" into Google Maps, and we'll meet at the trailhead, which leaves from the parking lot on the north side of the lake.

The hike is 4.0 miles roundtrip, with approximately 1,459 ft of elevation gain (not that much). We'll stop for lunch at the top and in total it should take about 2.5 hours. Kids welcome (the trail is not stroller-friendly, but it is kid-friendly).

Our Story

We met in April of 2019 and had our first date at Optimism Brewing Company in Seattle, where we were both full of anticipation, hopefulness, and excitement. If you ask Zack what he remembers from that day, he says "Not wanting to leave." Libby remembers hearing about Zack's crack-of-dawn mushroom foraging and how he'd run so many marathons that he had somehow lost count. On our second date, we went to an open mic where Zack played "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Michael Bolton on his saxophone and Libby kept trying to scoot her chair closer to Zack's. Our third date started at 6:45am in bow tie and tutu as we biked to an early morning breakfast, sunrise bubble festival at Gasworks Park, Golden Gardens (where we'll be tying the knot!), and then to Zack's apartment where he spent the afternoon teaching Libby how to pick locks. After 15 hours of hanging out that day, scheduling our 4th date was a no-brainer and by the fifth date Zack, was bringing Libby his dad's special chocolate mousse that had made his mom fall in love with his dad years before.

In the time since, we've loved getting to meet each others' family and friends, have helped each other navigate life's ups and downs, and have learned so much from one another. We've also gotten to take some pretty rad trips together, including to Hawaii, Sunriver, Santa Fe, Boston, and Palm Springs. But, none beat the spontaneous camping trip we took to Deception Pass in September 2021. We had spent the day juggling on the beach and hiking around the coast, but after dinner around the campfire, Zack just didn't want to spend one more night without knowing his future with Libby. He proposed with a turquoise ring, Libby's favorite stone, and Libby gave Zack a wooden ring etched with their initials that she had been holding onto for just this purpose. And, just like that, it went from a casual getaway to one of the best days of both of our lives.

Since then we've been living life together in Seattle and planning our next big adventure — which is where YOU come in! We'll be getting married on May 29, 2022 and hope you'll be able to be there and join us in celebrating!

Travel

We are so grateful to our friends and family who may be traveling from all over the country to be part of our special weekend.

For those flying in, we recommend flying in and out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Our wedding venue is located 25-miles (approx. 45-minutes) northwest of Sea-Tac airport.

For those who are not planning to rent a car, the Link Light Rail will take you directly from Sea-Tac airport into downtown Seattle. The trip will take between 35-40 minutes and will cost about $3 per person to get downtown. Taxis, Lyft and Uber are also available from the airport. They range from $45-$75 to get to downtown Seattle.

Hotel Recommendations:

We won't be able to meet the thresholds that many Seattle hotels require for establishing room blocks, but feel free to email us if you have any questions: libbyandzack@libbyandzack.com.

Things To Do

Classic Seattle:

Pike Place MarketThe Gum WallChihuly Garden and Glass MuseumSpace Needle (which Libby will admit she's never been up!) • Kubota Japanese Gardens Seattle Pinball Museum

Our Favorite Food Joints:

Temple Pastries (excellent coffee and pastries) • Broadcast CoffeeTacos Chukis (quick & quality tacos) • Inside Passage (immersive PNW bar in Capitol Hill) • Kneehigh Stocking Co. (speakeasy in Capitol Hill with Korean food) • Rachel's Ginger BeerHumble Pie (pizza) • Raised Doughnuts (the best donuts just 5 blocks from our apartment) • Kedai Makan (Malaysian street food) • Coffeeholic (very unique Vietnamese coffee cafe) • Portage Bay Cafe (we went here for brunch on our 3rd date)

Our Favorite Hike:

Rattlesnake Ledge (no snakes involved, we promise): 4.0mi round trip, 40min drive east of Seattle. You will need a car to get here. Word of caution: Very crowded on the weekends.

Need something to do Sunday morning before the wedding?

Check out the Ballard Farmers Market: Open year round, Sundays 9am-2pm. The market operates along the historic cobblestone stretch of Ballard Avenue NW between Vernon Place and 22nd Avenue Ballard AVE NW.

Or visit Kerry Park, located in the Queen Anne neighborhood. This park will give you the quintessential Seattle view: 180 degrees of the water, downtown, the Space Needle, and Mt. Rainier. We advise visiting Kerry Park over going to the top of the Space Needle. If you have time to wander, nearby is Parson's Garden, which is one of Seattle's best kept secrets.

FAQ

There's no way around this one! If you are attending our wedding weekend, you will need to be vaccinated. We have medically vulnerable family members and ask that you please be thoughtful and responsible as to your choices prior to and during the wedding. If you feel sick, please stay home and celebrate with us in spirit.

We are hoping to have the ceremony outside (weather permitting), and the reception and dancing will be inside. The venue is a huge, lofted room with open windows for cross breeze and doors that open to the beach. We won't be wearing masks or require them of our guests, but you are welcome to should you choose.

Note: As of 3/12/2022, Washington State strongly encourages, but no longer requires masks at most indoor spaces, so we do not anticipate guests being required to wear masks. We know regulations and restrictions are constantly changing, so we'll be updating this as it gets closer to May 29th.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT COVID?

The wedding will be Sunday afternoon on May 29th, but if you want to spend some extra time with us and explore Seattle, we welcome you to fly in early and/or stay late. We're planning a few other events over the weekend as well, because we really want to see you and spend as much time together as possible. Plus, we love so much about Seattle and want to share our favorite spots with you. Throughout the weekend there may be some hiking, good coffee & beer, tasty pastries and donuts, and more. Please RSVP as soon as you know if you’ll be able to make it for the weekend, and we'll update the website with more details as we plan the rest.

WHEN SHOULD WE BE THERE? WHAT’S THE PLAN?

Absolutely not! While we’d love to have you, we know there’s a lot of considerations before taking a big trip. Especially these days. We hope to have some local sheva brachot and post-wedding celebrations in Seattle and Portland, and we’d love to see you there. So if you can't make it to Seattle on May 29th, we'll just look forward to celebrating together when we see each other next. You'll be helping us keep the party going!

WE CAN'T MAKE IT. WILL YOU BE UPSET?

Unfortunately, we do not have the space to welcome guests other than those who are listed on your invitation. When you click the RSVP button in your email, you will be taken to your RSVP card that lists those included in your party. We would be happy to celebrate with Uncle Bill and Tina the Llama at another time, though! If you have any questions, please contact us directly.

CAN I BRING MY CAT/DOG/UNCLE BILL/PET LLAMA?

Yup, it sure is. We'll be having a Jewish wedding, and these are traditionally not held on Saturdays. So, we picked a holiday weekend in hopes that folks who needed to travel would have the following Monday (Memorial Day) off of work. We have planned activities throughout the weekend, so if you want to spend some extra time with us and explore Seattle, we welcome you to fly in early and/or stay late. Check out our Wedding Schedule for more details as they become available.

IS YOUR WEDDING REALLY ON A SUNDAY?

Well, first and foremost, we do hope you'll opt to wear clothes. But don't worry, this is not a black-tie affair! Libby will be wearing a dress and Zack will be wearing a new suit. We promise, we’re not uptight or picky about what you wear to our wedding, but if we had to describe it, the attire would be something garden party wedding-y. Does that help?

Really, we just want this to be a festive and comfortable occasion for all. Please put your own spin on festive and fabulous, and if you want to channel your inner Zack, feel free to wear your favorite printed collar shirt or bowtie. When we imagine looking at photos of our wedding, we just hope to see you, your smiling faces, and your smooth dance moves (so don't wear shoes you can't dance in!).

A note regarding the weather: End of May in Seattle could be 40s and gray/raining, or it could be 70s and sunny. So we invite you to join us in checking the weather neurotically leading up to the Big Day. Regardless, nights can get a little chilly, so make like a true Pacific Northwesterner and bring layers, like sweaters and jackets. Depending on the weather, the ceremony may be outside, so feel free to bring a sweater or coat to stay warm.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Golden Gardens Bathhouse is located at 8498 Seaview Pl NW, Seattle, WA 98117. This is about 30 minutes northwest of Seattle, and 45 minutes from the Seattle-Tacoma airport.

Both Uber and Lyft are prominently used all over Seattle, and are a good option. Remember to use the address above as the pickup and drop off address, as it will get you to the main door of our venue (the park is large and if you don't use this address, you may find yourself wandering around, or your ride will not know where to pick you up).

WHERE IS THE VENUE AND HOW DO I GET THERE?

Absolutely! Golden Gardens has five (5) FREE parking lots to be exact and they are all first-come, first-served. The parking lots close and their gates get locked promptly at 10pm. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. If you are concerned about parking, another option is to park in one of the neighborhoods directly east or south of Golden Gardens, and then take an Uber/Lyft the last mile or so.

Note: Because it is a holiday weekend, the parking lots may fill up, especially if the weather is nice. We recommend arriving a bit early in case you need to do a loop or two or check out more than one of the parking lots. Here is a map of the parking lots and the venue:

IS THERE PARKING AT THE WEDDING VENUE?

Yes! The City of Seattle closes their parks early and our venue rental ends at 8:30pm. So, we will be moving our party to a bar in Ballard and we welcome you to join us for an informal afterparty at King's Hardware. IDs required.

WILL THERE BE AN AFTER PARTY?

Check your email! To RSVP for the wedding, you will need to click the RSVP button in your emailed wedding invitation. If you just went to libbyandzack.com, you will not see the RSVP form, for security reasons. So, just go back to your email and click the RSVP button and it will take you right there.

I DON'T SEE THE RSVP LINK ANYMORE, WHERE DID IT GO?

We'd love to hear from you! Email us at libbyandzack@libbyandzack.com

HAVE A QUESTION WE DIDN'T ANSWER?

Registry

We feel so lucky and loved by all of our friends and family during this time in our life. We are privileged to have most of what we need for our current lives in our small apartment, but know things may change as our life together grows. We've added a few items to our registery, as well as gift cards that will give us the flexibility our new life together may need. We would also be honored if you chose to celebrate this moment by donating to a charity. We've linked one below, but also welcome you to choose a charity of your choice.
